Hello world!
We are eight young people from beautiful little country called Estonia, from north of Europe between Finland, Latvia and Russia. We love our home country but we also believe that the world is exciting and worth discovering, the best way to learn is out of the comfort zone and this is exactly what we are planning to do!
Have you heard about Youth Leadership Program? We didn't know about it until the beginning of this year when great people around us lead us to this amazing program and opportunity for youth. For some of us it was a teacher, some youth worker, some of us got the info from family members and some from friends.
We decided to apply for it to spend a month in the United States of America, together with youth from Latvia and Lithuania, live together with local families from States and get to know about topics like leadership, community service and volunteerism, people-to-people relations and entrepreneurship. The program is organized in cooperation between the United States Government, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Embassys of United States.
So we did our best and our applications and references got us to the next part of the applying! We were more than thrilled to take part of the Skype interview with the organizers, answering the questions about our motivation, previous experiences with this kind of activities and expectations. Some more waiting and the next info we got made us fly (almost literally) - next week we are heading to the United States of America, Indiana to have an adventure of lifetime!
