First day at the rancho
After the adventures in New York City we boarded a plane to Indianapolis at around 10PM, which means that we arrived at 1AM but that wasn’t the end of our trip because we had a bus waiting for us. After a sleepy trip on the bus we arrived at Rawhide rancho, by that time the clock was past 2.30AM.
The next morning we had breakfast at 9AM, where we met the lithuanian group for the first time. For breakfast we had something really american: slices of fat pancakes with maple syrup, bisquicks with gravy, sausages and smashed eggs. The food was great and filled up our empty stomachs fast.
After the meal we had team building games, where we got to know each other and meet the people we are going to be with for the next 3 weeks. The games were tricky, because we had to communicate with each other and use our best leadership skills. In the end we learned the most by failing at some tasks, after which we examined our mistakes and improved upon them.
As time passed we were hungry once again so we were happy to find out that after team building we got to burger building. Each of us made their own chicken burgers and the old estonian saying “Self made – well made” was true once again.
After licking our fingers clean of the burgers it was time for a bit of trail riding. The ranch that we are staying have amazing outdoor activites opportunities in order to really help us get to know each other and bring up the team spirit! We went horse riding and enjoyed five! different ziplines - we were really overcoming ourselves. We also got to know more about the programme, what to excpect, different things about our staying with the host families. And this day we will finish all together around the bonfire - the real American way rancho night!
Already tomorrow we are heading to Bloomington, to meet our host families and start to become future leaders even more and more!
